As my term as Chair of the University of California Women in Tech (UC WIT) Committee comes to a close, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. Serving in this role has been an incredible honor, reflecting the committee’s deep commitment to diversity and its openness to embracing new ideas.
Throughout this journey, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most empowered and talented women, and together, we have achieved remarkable milestones:
- UC WIT Website: Announcing a new resource for UC Women in Tech
- Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Joining UC WIT: A significant expansion of our community.
- Volunteering: Emphasizing the purpose and impact of volunteering for women in tech.
- Festive Code: Celebrating the holidays with UC WIT.
- Van Williams as Official Sponsor: Strengthening our network with his support.
- Inaugural UC Womxn in Tech Speaker Series: Providing a platform for voices in tech across UC campuses and communities.
- UC Women Rock IT 2024: Showcasing the power of women in technology across UC.
- Recognition of UCD/USDH WIT: Now an official campus group under SWADAAC in the DEI office.
- UC Tech 2024 Planning: Ensuring our continued presence in key tech events to promote awareness..
This year has been all about collaboration, and I am incredibly thankful to everyone who contributed to our success. While it’s difficult to name every individual, I want to extend a special thanks to Rita Rosenthal and the Berkeley IT Communications team. Their unwavering support was essential in helping us achieve our goals.
I am excited to pass the torch to the new leadership team. Please join me in giving a warm welcome to Charron Andrus (UCB) as the new Chair and Veronica Garcia (UCSD) as the Co-chair. I am confident that under their leadership, UC WIT will continue to thrive as we work collaboratively toward our common cause.
Thank you all for this unforgettable experience!
