About IWD & Women’s History Month
International Women’s Day (IWD)(link is external), March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The first IWD gathering was in 1911, and was supported by over a million people. In 1995, March was designated as Women’s History Month(link is external), a time to honor women’s achievements throughout American history and celebrate women’s contributions across various fields – including IT. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group, or organization-specific.
“When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world. When women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. The IWD 2024 #InspireInclusion campaign aims to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.”
We hope to see you at one or both of these events. More info to come!
Warm regards,
UC WIT Women’s Month Planning Committee
